Qualifying

Club Mardave Class

Paul Galbraith following his win last week led the cars away for round 1 which was keenly contested, Lee Bishop won with Mike Simpson second and Paul Galbraith third, all on 26 laps.  In round 2 Mike Simpson had a good clean run to raise the bar to 27 laps which was again achieved by the top four drivers in round 3, an incredible race this with Lee winning, Paul second just 5/100th second ahead of Robert Hambridge.  Close!

In division 2 Jenson Butlin won every round scoring 24 laps, his nearest challenger was Joshua Galbraith with 23 laps and then Roy Matthews 22.

GT12 Class

David Simpson got off to a flying start winning round 1 with 29 laps, Dave Tomlinson and David Hall were second and third respectively on 28 laps.  In round 2 David Hall stormed ahead of the field to win on 31 laps, Dave Tomlinson moved into second place with 29 just over 1/10th second ahead of David Simpson.  Better was still to come as David Hall achieved 32 laps in round 3 with a near faultless drive, David Simpson clinched second place just 3 seconds in front of Dave Tomlinson, both drivers getting 30 laps. Bob Harley was fourth place qualifier ahead of Daniel Williams.

Graham Oxford was in good form after a few weeks break and qualified for pole position in the “B” final with 24 laps, Jack Cook was second and Nick Wallace third with only 2 seconds separating the first three cars.

Finals

Mardave “B” Final

As indicated by the qualifying this proved to be a Jenson Butlin victory, some excellent driving gave him a 2 lap win over Jordan Galbraith and a further lap down Joshua Galbraith. Well done Jenson, only 2 more rounds left for anyone to catch him in the league.

Mardave “A” Final

This was a great race with all cars very evenly matched for speed on a track design that made overtaking very difficult. Lee was on pole and built up an early lead, however after a couple of minor errors Mike Simpson took the lead on lap 11. With Mike, Lee and Paul Galbraith only separated by a few seconds the pressure was on not to make any mistakes. Lee continued to reel in Mike’s lead and in the last 30 seconds of the race attempted to overtake which all went wrong leaving Mike to cruise to victory with 32 laps. An excellent race to watch, Lee finishing second and Paul third – all on the same lap.

GT12 “B” Final

Another good race for Graham Oxford, leading the race from start to finish with 31 laps, Nick Wallace was second on 30 and Jack Cook third with 25 laps.

GT12 “A” Final

David Hall was on pole position and with a good start and with his performance in qualifying it was going to be difficult for anyone to catch him. This proved to be the case as David set the fastest lap time of 9.20 seconds to win with 37 laps. His nearest challenger was David Simpson who finished second also on 37 laps and Daniel Williams was third with 35 laps.

19-08-14 Summer League Round 5

Club Mardave Class

Team Galbraith take the Mardave final by storm

Paul Galbraith won the “A” final after a tremendous race with Lee Bishop and Jake Galbraith finished fourth to be the top division 2 driver, reducing Jenson Butlins league lead by a point.

With different “A” Final winners in the club Mardave class in each of the past four weeks an exciting last three round are in prospect.

No points for the club chairman Rob Hambridge this week as he was running race control – was he checking out the opposition?

GT12 Class

In the GT12 class Darren Ford was fastest qualifier by two laps ahead of Dave Tomlinson, David Hall and David Simpson all on 37 laps.

In the final David Hall had got his car set up well and an excellent drive won him the race with Darren second, Dave Tomlinson third, Daniel Williams fourth and David Simpson fifth. Does your name have to start with the letter D to get into the “A” Final!!!!!!

There were several other excellent individual performances, Nick Wallace won the “B” final and Courtney Orme was second – good to see his car going well after a few technical issues over the few past weeks.

No long straight this week!

12-08-14 Superleague Round 4

Lee Bishop returns after a 12 week break to win in style.

Club Mardave Class

Lee Bishop had a great evenings racing being unbeatable and spoiling Rob Hambridges attempt to be the top Mardave driver for two consecutive weeks. Lee lined up on pole position for the final with Rob in second spot and Mike Simpson third.  Rob was soon into the lead but Lee got back past him on lap 21 to retake the lead which he held to the finish line a tremendous 2 laps ahead of Rob in second and Mike third.  Jenson Butlin was the top division 2 driver in fourth place followed by Josh Galbraith who beat his dad who forgot to fit his transponder!

GT12 Class

David Simpson had his car going well and was a lap clear of everyone in the qualifying, Darren Ford being second and Daniel Williams in third place.  In the “A” Final David lead the field away from pole position but a mishap on lap two cost him dearly with a very fast pace being set by Darren and Daniel.  At the finish Darren had a comfortable win a full lap ahead of Daniel in second place with David finishing third.

In the “B” Final Chelly Snowden showed everyone the way to win by five laps from Nick Wallace in second place, Jack Cook was third.

There are just two more rounds left in the Superleague which will be held in October and December, remember it is the drivers best five from a possible six scores that count.

Jenson Butlin increased his lead in division 2 with another maximum points drive, Jake Galbraith was second in the qualifying but could only manage fourth place in the final with his brother Joshua taking second place.

GT12 Class

Dave Tomlinson was in top qualifying position after the first two rounds but a seized wheel bearing in round three put him out of the race and Daniel Williams produced the best performance of the evening to win round three and take pole position in the final.
Some excellent driving in the final made for a very exciting race, Daniel was again in great form and went on to win with Dave Tomlinson second and Chelle Snowden third just ahead of Nick Bruty.
