01-10-19 Winter League Round 4

The number of driversĀ  was less than normal due to a combination of floods and roads traffic accidents. However with league points at stake the racing was good and there were some tremendous finishes.

The GT12 C Final was won by Saul Theobold who was four laps ahead of Coleby Thompson, Emma Sharma was third.

McKenzie Wallace won the B Final to take yet another maximum 100 points in F3 and is the only driver to have won all four rounds of the league. Jack Walsh was just a lap down in second place with Freddie Parker finishing third.

In the A Final Chelle Snowden set the quickest lap and won the race, Guy Rogers was second. Bob Harley seemed to have third place wrapped up until he had to retire from the race leaving Nick Wallace and Mike Simpson to fight it out for third. Mike was in front but Nick was quicker near the end of the race and catching up. It all came down to the final corner after which both cars crossed the line together, Mike winning by 5/100th second ——wow that was a close finish!!!!!

Could the LMP12 final match the excitement of the previous race?? – the answer was a resounding yes.
Ashley King was on pole position followed by Steve Donald, Louis Parker and Fred Hatfield. All drivers made a good start and the running order remained unchanged up to lap 12 where Louis moved up into second place ahead of Steve.
With the race being run at a very fast pace Louis took the lead on lap 35 and Ashley chased him for lap after lap but could just not get past. Whilst these two fought for the lead Steve was steadily catching them up, then small mistakes by the leaders on laps 54 and 55 gave Steve the lead and Louis moved into second, Ashley down to third. A very happy Steve coasted to a win, Louis was second, Ashley although setting the fastest lap was third and Fred Hatfield fourth.
Another win for Steve on a Steve Donald track design —–can he do it again next week?

Next week is Round 5 of the Superleague.
