21-01-20 Spring League Round 2

Round 2 of the current League used a similar track design to Round 1 last week. Interesting to see who had an improved performance.

Karl Norris was quickest in the qualifying rounds followed by Darren Ford, Kayleigh Knight, Justin Heath and Anthony Dennis.
Ben Norris was the best placed Junior Member for the second week in succession being in 9th place overall.

Ashley King was best in LMP12 being just over 4 seconds ahead of Gavin Maciver in second place, Fred Hatfield was third.

Finals

The first race was the GT12 D Final which was won by Simon Honeysett being two laps ahead of Jason Leavis in second place, Freddie Parker was third.

Mike Simpson won the C Final and McKenzie Wallace just got the better of Jack Walsh in the battle for second place.

Bob Harley won the B final from pole position, Bob Harris finished second after starting at the back of the grid and Stuart Evans was third.

Karl Norris had a great win in the A final with Darren Ford second and Justin Heath third.

Gavin Maciver won the LMP final finishing ahead of Ashley King by 0.49 seconds, Ashley having set the fastest lap time, Fred Hatfield was third.

So after two rounds Darren Ford and Karl Norris are tied for the lead in F1.

Bob Harris is the new leader in F2 with Stephen Deacon second.

Jack Walsh remains unbeaten and leads F3 with Simon Honeysett in second place.

Gavin Maciver is the leader of the LMP league ahead of Ashley King.

Round 3 is next week.

14-01-20 Spring League Round 1

The start of the first League of 2020 produced some great racing including a tremendous A Final, setting the standard for the rest of the year.


After the three qualifying rounds Karl Norris was quickest being the only driver to achieve 42 laps. Darren Ford and Chelle Snowden were second and third on 41 laps with Stephen Deacon, Bob Harley and Kayleigh Knight taking the remaining places in the “A” Final with 40 laps each.

Benn Norris was the best placed Junior Member with 38 laps which was matched by both McKenzie Wallace and Jack Walsh.

Jack made an excellent start to the year by winning the “C” Final and leading the F3 League, Simon Honeysett finished second and Paul Carter third.

In the “B” Final Benn Norris had a good start to the race and was in the leading two thirds of the way through the race when on lap 26 Bob Harris took over the lead and went on to take a fine victory, Nick Wallace finished in second place and new member Stuart Evans was third.

The last race of the evening was the “A” Final where Chelle Snowden made a very fast start from third position on the grid to take the lead on lap 1 from pole position driver Karl Norris in second and Darren Ford in third place. The racing was at a very fast pace and was all very close, on lap 7 Darren overtook both Chelle and Karl to move into the lead with Chelle dropping down to third. Then followed a tremendous race for the remaining five minutes with the leading positions remaining unchanged and Darren extending his lead to take the win, Karl was second, Chelle third, Kayleigh fourth, Stephen Deacon fifth (also best placed in F2) and Bob Harley sixth. A great race to watch – well done to all of the drivers!

So after round 1 Darren Ford leads F1, Stephen Deacon F2 and Jack Walsh F3. Remember there are nine rounds with the best six round scores to count.
Round 2 is next week.

07-01-20 Clubnight

The first club meeting of 2020 was an ordinary clubnight, giving drivers an opportunity to get their cars set up for the start of the new league next week.

Some good racing with Karl Norris winning the GT12 A Final, Darren Ford taking second place with his new car and Chelle Snowden finishing third.

In LMP12 Steve Donald won the final with Ashley King second and Craig Nutting third. Can Steve give a repeat performance next week in the League?????

17-12-19 XMAS Trophy Meeting

The Xmas Trophy Meeting was the last club meeting of 2019, no racing for the next two weeks over the Christmas and New Year period, 2020 events start with an ordinary clubnight on Tuesday 7th January.

The format of the Trophy Meeting was the usual three qualifying and a single final round.

In the GT12 class Nick Wallace won the C Final with Freddie Parker taking second place and Alfie Hart third just under a second adrift.



McKenzie Wallace started from pole position on the grid in the B Final and was in the lead from start to finish. Behind him Mike Simpson, Anthony Dennis and Jack Walsh were fighting it out for the second and third places. They eventually finished in this order but it was very close. Jack won the “Best Junior” trophy with Benn Norris second place Junior and also winning of the “Chairman’s Cup” for the most improved driver in the winter league.




Karl Norris won the A Final, another good week for “Team Norris” with Kayleigh Knight finishing second just 0.22 seconds ahead of Darren Ford in third place.



In the LMP12 class Ashley King finished the year with a convincing win in the final, Simon Pole took second and Richard Norris was third and Gavin Maciver fourth.

A great evening to conclude the years racing, it was good to see excellent performances from all the Junior members which is very encouraging for the future.

10-12-19 December Clubnight and Trophy Presentation

An ordinary clubnight producing a good evenings racing, giving the opportunity to experiment with different car set-ups

Next week is the Christmas Trophy meeting which will conclude the racing for 2019.

30-11-19 BRCA Midland Regional GT12 Series 2019

The third and final round of the series was held at Tamworth model car club following Round 1 at Burton Buggy Club and Round 2 at Rowley Regis.

The winner was Gary Kirkpatrick, Andrew Slingsby was second and Sam Brookes third.

03-12-19 Superleague Final Round

The last round of the 2019 Superleague using a similar track design to last week courtesy of Steve Donald – could he repeat last weeks performance of winning the LMP Final ??


In the GT12 class Karl Norris was top qualifier with Darren Ford just under three seconds behind, Kayleigh Knight was third a lap down with Anthony Dennis and Bob Harley a further lap adrift in fourth and fifth places. Nick Wallace took the remaining place in the A Final, also being the best placed F2 driver.

Simon Honeysett was the top F3 driver followed by Jack Walsh and Freddie Parker.

In the LMP class Louis Parker was quickest ahead of Ashley King and Steve Donald.

Jack Walsh was the winner of the GT12 C Final, Freddie Parker took a fine second place and Ian Craig was third.

The B Final produced a close race between Bob Harris and Jack Sweetman with Bob taking the win, Jack second and Mike Simpson third.

The A Final was dominated by “Team Norris” with Karl Norris winning the race and Kayleigh Knight finishing second, Anthony Dennis was third a few seconds ahead of Bob Harley. Nick Wallace took fifth place and Darren Ford having technical problems with his car finished sixth.

Louis Parker had another superb drive to win the LMP Final, Ashley King was second and Fred Hatfield third followed by Gavin Maciver, Guy Rogers and Steve Donald. A second place finish by Ashley was good enough for first place in the league.

Personal best times for the track design improved for almost everyone this week so maybe there was more grip!

That completes all of the 2019 Leagues, congratulations to all of the winners.

Just two more weeks racing before the Christmas break.

Next week is an ordinary clubnight, with the Christmas Trophy meeting being held the following week on Tuesday 17th December.

26-11-19 Winter League Final Round

The last round of the winter league and after the qualifying Karl Norris was quickest in GT12 with Kayleigh Knight in second place and Chelle Snowden third.
Anthony Dennis was the best placed F2 driver in fourth position overall, F3 driver McKenzie Wallace completed the A Final line up with a great performance in his new car.

In the LMP12 class Steve Donald took pole position in the final with Mick Farrell second and Fred Hatfield third.

Finals
Freddie Parker won the GT12 C Final from Simon Honeysett in second place.

The B Final was won by Jack Sweetman with Benn Norris in second place, also setting the quickest lap time in the race, Nick Wallace was third just ahead of Mike Simpson.

The A final was a great race with the first three drivers finishing just a few seconds apart, producing an exciting finish with Kayleigh Knight being the winner, Karl Norris second and Anthony Dennis third. Well done Kayleigh! – no team orders in “Team Norris”.

The evenings racing was completed with a win for Steve Donald in the LMP12 class, Louis Parker took second place and Mick Farrell third.

Well done to all the league winners especially Karl Norris and McKenzie Wallace who both achieved the maximum possible score of 600 points.

Don’t forget that the last round of the superleague is next week.

19-11-19 Winter League Round 8

The penultimate round of the 2019 Winter League saw Karl Norris take his sixth maximum points to retain the GT12 F1 league championship. Chelle Snowden who finished second in the A Final is assured of second place.

In F2 League leader Anthony Dennis recorded another maximum points but it is still possible for Bob Harris to win if he scores maximum points in the final round next week.

McKenzie Wallace needs to win the final round in F3 to attain the maximum possible league score of 600 points.
Next weeks final round scores may change several of the drivers current positions.

In the LMP12 class Ashley King cannot be caught at the top of the league with Steve Donald in second place.

Looking forward to an exciting finish to the Winter League next week.

AGM Evening

The club committee members elected for 2019/20 were.

The meeting was followed by three qualifying rounds of free racing for those members present who wished to race.

Membership for 2020 is now available, forms at Race Control.
For new members joining between now and the end of this year, membership for the remainder of 2019 will be included.

The next two weeks are the final rounds of the current Winter League .
