24-04-18 Spring League Final Round

A thrilling final round of the Spring League with some of the results deciding the trophy winners in each division.

Qualifying
Steve Donald qualified for pole position in the GT12 A final giving him an advantage over Ashley King in second place on the grid which could prove critical as both drivers were tied for second place in the league. Karl Norris, Dan Sheppard, Mark Deacon and Darren Ford took the remaining A final places with Mark in fifth place on the grid being “quietly confident” of a good result.

In the club mardave class Roy Matthews was quickest in qualifying by just under a second ahead of league leader Harvey Forster with Nathan Marshall in third place.

Finals
Things were looking good for Roy Matthews as he was in the lead at the halfway point in the mardave final until an electrical failure lost him over a minute leaving Harvey and Nathan to fight it out for the win. It was close but Nathan was first to the finish to win the race, Harvey was second with Roy six laps down in third place.

The GT12 C final saw a good standard of driving with the lead changing places several times during the race. Kayleigh Knight was the eventual winner after a hard fought race with Jack Walsh. Alex Forster took an excellent third place.

Jordan Leavis won the B final with Chelle Snowden second and Bob Harley third.

The final race of the evening, the GT12 A final would decide the second and third place league trophies and what a great race it turned out to be. Steve Donald lost his pole position advantage on lap one when Ashley took the lead and Mark Deacon also made a great start. A fantastic race this run at a very fast pace with Karl Norris setting the quickest lap-time . It was Ashley who was first to the finish taking a great win for the second week in succession, Steve finished in second place and Karl third, all three drivers on the same lap. Mark Deacon, Darren Ford and Dan Sheppard finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively, all being a lap down on the leader.

A great end to the Spring League.

Next Tuesday 1st May is an ordinary clubnight with a team relay on Tuesday 8th May.

Congratulations to the league trophy winners.

17-04-18 Spring League Round 8

Ashley is “King” of the track, winning the A final and drawing level with Steve Donald in the spring league. With both drivers having equal points and the same worst score it will be a head to head in next weeks final round to decide who takes the second and third place trophies!

In the GT12 F2 league Darren Ford took fourth place in the A Final ahead of Dan Sheppard and has the chance next week to achieve a maximum 600 points league score.

In GT12 F3 a fine drive by Peter Lax put a stop to League Leader Chris Metcalfe’s chances of winning every round he has raced in and he had to settle for second place. Just a single point separates Jack Walsh in second and Benn Norris in third place so expect some close competition next week.

The mardave class drivers came out on top in the combined Mardave A / GT D Final beating the three GT12 cars with a win for Nathan Marshall and second place to Harvey Forster, James Walker being the best placed GT12 in third place.

Looking forward to next weeks final round of the league which should see some exciting finishes.

10-04-18 Superleague Round 2

A good evenings racing with several changes to league positions.

Ashley King is the new GT12 league leader, Steve Donald experiencing loss of power from his motor in the A final and dropping down into a tie for second place in the league with Karl Norris.

Jordan Leavis had a great run in the qualifying to make the A final and displaced Dan Sheppard as F2 league leader, Darren Ford remaining in third position.

Courtney Orme still leads F3.

In the club Mardave class positions remained unchanged with Mike Simpson the leader, Nathan Marshall second and Harvey Forster in third place.

Still four rounds to go during June, August, October and December so plenty of time for positions to change.

Don’t forget next week is the penultimate round of the Spring League.

03-04-18 Clubnight

A good evenings racing with Ashley King being fastest qualifier in the GT12 class followed by Steve Donald and Karl Norris. In the club Mardave class Lucas Morgan was quickest, Dean Bostock second and Jack Walker third.

Lucas had a convincing win in the mardave final with Jack Walker taking second place, Dean Bostock was third.

Alan Forster had an excellent win in the GT12 C final being three laps clear of second place driver Jason Leavis with Courtney Orme finishing in third place.

Kayleigh Knight followed on from her win in last weeks trophy meeting to win the B final with Chris Metcalfe second and Benn Norris third.

In the A Final Ashley King had a poor first lap going from pole position on the grid to last place in the race, however he fought back well to eventually finish second behind the winner Karl Norris with Steve Donald in third place and also setting the fastest lap time.

Remember it is the second round of the Superleague next week.
