08-01-16 Clubnight

A depleted number of drivers this week due to the clubnight having to be moved to a friday for this week only as the hall was not available.

A good evening however with Louis Parker driving well to be best qualifier and win the A final in the GT12 class. Gavin Maciver was second in the qualifying but did not start in the final where Matt Popejoy took a fine second place.

Mike Simpson driving two cars during the evening had the dubious pleasure of being top qualifier in the Club mardave class and last in the GT12 class. Worse was to come as having won the V12 final by a very small margin from Jordan Galbraith, he was last in the GT12 B final scoring less laps than with his Mardave! – needs more practice!!!!!
Paul Galbraith on the other hand only managed a third place in the Mardave final but finished a good third place in the GT12 A final with five more laps.

Time was also taken to carry out repairs to the track markers in readiness for next weeks penultimate round of the current Autumn League.

Looking forward to plenty of exciting racing in 2016.

29-12-15 Team Event

The final race meeting of 2015 was a Team Event with the competing drivers being split into three teams of six drivers, all the team members individual numbers of laps for each of the four rounds being added together for their Team Score. It was also good to see several visiting drivers again.

Louis Parker’s Team A set the pace in round 1 with a total of 198 laps, Dave Tomlinson’s Team C were in second place with 192 laps and David Simpson’s Team B trailed on 179 laps mainly due to Scott Lewis having problems with his car.

Round 2 saw Louis’s team extend their lead to 10 laps from Dave Tomlinson in second place with David Simpson 18 laps behind.

Another fine round for Louis and his team in round 3 resulted in an increase in their lead to 11 laps, but Dave Tomlinson and his merry band were not giving up yet so it was all going to rest on the final rounds scores. David Simpson’s team dropped right out of contention when David had to retire after 8 laps with some of his rear suspension came adrift.

Another good team performance in the final sealed the victory for Louis’s team by a massive 25 laps on 811 laps, Dave Tomlinson was second with 786 and David Simpson bringing up the rear on 723.

Well done to the winners Louis Parker, Nick Wallace, Matt Popejoy, Joshua Galbraith, Jake Galbraith and Jensen Wray.

The best individual score was 170 laps by Louis Parker, followed by Chelle Snowden 161 and Dave Tomlinson 159.

In the V12 Mardave class Joshua Galbraith was the top driver of the evening with a total of 133 laps followed by his brother Jordan 129, Dad Paul 125 and brother Jake 123 – a profitable evening for team Galbraith!

Happy New Year to all see you in 2016!

Remember the next Clubnight is on a FRIDAY 8th JANUARY not Tuesday 5th.

– JUST FOR ONE WEEK ONLY

22-12-15 Christmas Trophy Meeting

Richard Parker and Louis Parker were the top qualifiers in the V12 Mardave and GT12 classes respectively but could they both win both A Finals for “Team Parker”?
Chelle Snowden wins the GT12 B Final
Grant Woodcock has a comfortable win in the GT12 C Final
Roy Matthews had a well deserved victory in the V12 Mardave B Final where new member Jensen Wray finished in third place ahead of his dad Wes

Track
A fast flowing track this week with a tricky section in the middle which was difficult to negotiate at speed.

Qualifying
Louis Parker was the top qualifier in the GT12 class with 49 laps just missing out on breaking 7 seconds for his fastest lap by 0.01 seconds. David Simpson was second with 47 laps (fastest 7.16 sec) and Gavin Maciver close behind in third place also on 47 laps (fastest 7.21 sec)

With 9 cars in the V12 Mardave heat there was some very entertaining racing with the odd spill, Richard Parker came out on top to take pole position in the A Final with some fine driving. Jordan Galbraith put in the quickest lap times and was second just over 2 seconds behind Richard with his brother Joshua third, 2 laps down.

Finals
First on the grid was the V12 B Final with Paul Galbraith leading the cars away from pole position and taking an early lead. Roy Matthews made a poor start and was nearly a lap down after the first 30 seconds of the race. However he then put in a very consistent drive to catch Paul, overtake him and win the race. Well done to Roy, possibly his best ever performance!
Paul finished in second place a lap down.
A fine effort from new member Jensen Wray saw him take third place to win his first ever trophy and beat his dad for good measure! – will team orders be come into play in the future?

Next was the V12 A Final with Richard Parker looking for a win from pole position to set up a “Team Parker” win in both classes, but a racing incident on the first lap dropped him back to third position and let Mike Simpson into the lead with a clear track ahead of him. The cars being very evenly matched made overtaking very difficult. the fastest driver was Jordan Galbraith and he chased down Mike right to the finish and was second just 2 seconds adrift with Richard in third place.

The GT12 C Final was won by visiting driver Grant Woodcock, who was 6 laps ahead of his nearest rival Scott Lewis with Courtney Orme a further lap down.

Some good driving in the B Final with Chelle Snowden taking a win followed by Matt Popejoy, both these drivers lapping very quickly and finishing well ahead of third placed driver Jake Galbraith.

The last race of the evening was the GT12 A Final and it was well worth waiting for. A stunning performance from Louis Parker won him the race with David Simpson and Gavin Maciver in second and third places 2 laps down. Dave Tomlinson was fourth, all drivers lapping in just over 7 seconds with Louis being the quickest.

After the track was stored away the trophies were presented by the Club Chairman Rob Hambridge and Vice Chairman Chelle Snowden.

Merry Christmas to all

15-12-15 Superleague Final Round

The final round of the Superleague means that 2015 is drawing to a close, another good evenings racing and it was good to see some new drivers on the track.

Qualifying
In the GT12 class Louis Parker was in dazzling form putting in 40 laps, being over two laps ahead second and third placed drivers Gavin Maciver and David Simpson.
Nick Wallace was the top F2 driver on 36 laps followed by Chelle Snowden with 35 and Paul Galbraith with 34 laps.
There was a titanic battle in F3 between Matt Popejoy and Scott Lewis, in the end it was Matt who had the edge being 0.63 seconds faster, both drivers having 34 laps.
In the club mardave class Mike Simpson was fastest qualifier with 32 laps, Paul Galbraith was second with 30 laps, Joshua Galbraith was third and best in F2 also on 30 laps, ahead of Jordan Galbraith two laps down.

Finals
Mike Simpson had a poor start from pole position in the mardave final and found himself at the back of the field after the first lap with Jordan Galbraith taking an early lead. Joshua Galbraith then put in some good laps including the quickest of the race to move into first position but a couple of incidents let Mike Simpson catch up and it was then a very close race to the finishing line, with Mike winning and Josh taking second place 2.49 seconds adrift. Paul Galbraith finished third and Jordan fourth.

The GT12 C final was next Bob Harley was on pole after struggling with his car in qualifying. A good clean start gained him a big advantage on lap 1 and with some fast and tidy driving had an easy win by 6 laps. Behind him Rob Hambridge and Courtney Orme were fighting for second place, it was Rob who came out on top and Courtney was third.

The GT12 B final promised to be a good race and we were not disappointed. Chelle Snowden had a comfortable win with Paul Galbraith and Matt Popejoy going head to head for second place for most of the race, Matt was in front with one lap to go but Paul put in a fast final lap to pip Matt to the line by 2.09 seconds.

Louis Parker led the drivers away from pole position in the A final and slowly extended his lead lap by lap with some very fast and consistent driving, only a single lap being over 10 seconds. Gavin Maciver was his nearest challenger but could not quite match the pace despite some excellent driving. Nick Wallace was having an great evening being the only F2 driver to make the A final, he put in another super performance to finish in third place on 37 laps – Nick Bruty you better watch out in the New Year when we will see who is the top Nick! So another good win for Louis getting 41 laps and Gavin taking second with 39. A good race this.

Well done to Louis Parker who is the new GT12 Superleague champion for 2015, Gavin Maciver was second and David Simpson third.
Chelle Snowden won F2, Dave Tomlinson was second and Bob Harley third on countback after a tie on points with Nick Bruty.
Matt Popejoy was the winner in F3, Courtney Orme took second place and Alwyn Hodges third.
In the mardave class Mike Simpson was the champion and Paul Galbraith the runner up.
Roy Matthews won the F2 title – well done Roy, Jordan Galbraith was second and his brother Joshua third.

08-12-15 Autumn League Round 8

GT12 Class
Dave Tomlinson was fastest in the GT12 class in the first qualifying round but it was Louis Parker who was top qualifier for the final after the three rounds, David Simpson was second and Gavin Maciver in third place.
In the final Louis got a bad start from pole position enabling David Simpson overtake, after a few laps Louis took the lead again and both drivers had a clean run for the rest of the race, Louis winning and David finishing second 0.63 seconds behind. Gavin Maciver was third a lap down, these three drivers being well clear of the rest of the field. A great race to watch.

Another excellent performance from Nick Bruty saw him make the A Final and take maximum points in F2.

The B Final was a close race between Bob Harley and in form Nick Wallace, Bob was first to the finishing line just under 2 seconds ahead of Nick.

In the C final Scott Lewis looked to have the race won but a couple of racing incidents in the final minute let Mike Simpson past and he went on to win with Scott finishing second and Courtney Orme an excellent third place.
The Club Chairman Rob Hambridge had problems with his car for most of the evening and had too retire after 9 laps.

Club Mardave Class
Jordan Galbraith after his victory last week started the evening well by being fastest in Round 1. His dad Paul had a convincing win in round 2 and in the last round of qualifying Mike Simpson put in a good drive to take pole position in the final. Paul was in second place, Jordan third and Richard Parker racing after a long lay off took fourth place.
The final was going to be close with so many drivers evenly matched, the lead changed hands several times during the race and after six minutes Mike Simpson was the winner, Jordan second just ahead of Richard Parker.

Next week is the final round of the superleague.

01-12-15 Autumn League Round 7

Another excellent evenings racing.
Louis Parker was the top GT12 driver with Gavin Maciver and David Simpson having a great battle all evening for second place.
Nick Bruty was unbeatable in F2.
Courtney Orme also scores maximum points in F3.
Jordan Galbraith is the king of the Mardave class being top qualifier and winning a very close final.

Qualifying
Louis Parker set the target with a super drive in round 2 with David Simpson, Gavin Maciver and Nick Bruty not far off the pace in second, third and fourth position – David being half a lap down on Louis.
There were good performances also from Dave Tomlinson and Bob Harley who qualified ahead of Chelle Snowden.
In F3 Courtney Orme finished comfortably ahead of Alwyn Hodges.
The Mardave heat provided a lot of entertainment with seven cars running and it was Jordan Galbraith who was fastest with some impressive driving, with Mike Simpson just under a second slower.

Finals
The first final was the Mardave class and what a final it turned out to be. Jordan Galbraith made a good start from pole position on the grid and was chased by Mike Simpson. Overtaking proved difficult on a testing track the lead changed several times during the race, all the time being very little between these two drivers. Jordan sportingly allowed Mike to regain position after a big “off” at the far end of the track and they raced to the line with Jordan overtaking to win on the last lap. What a race! Joshua Galbraith was third and Paul fourth. Well done Jordan – can he do the double next week or will the pressure take its toll?

No rest for Joshua as he then went on to win the GT12 C Final, Courtney Orme was second Alwyn Hodges in disguise was third.

A win for Chelle Snowden in the B Final finishing a lap clear of second place driver Bob Harley, Nick Wallace was fastest but a couple of racing incidents put him down to third place.

Louis Parker had a great drive in the A Final to set the best lap time of 7.71 seconds and win from pole position. David Simpson was the only other driver to break 8 seconds with a 7.92, he and Gavin Maciver had another very close race with Gavin taking second place on the final lap.
Another fine performance from Nick Bruty who finished in fourth position being the best F2 driver.

24-11-15 Autumn League Round 6

Louis Parker extends his lead in the League with maximum points from the evening.
David Simpson is second in qualifying, Gavin Maciver takes second place in the A Final.
Nick Bruty has a commanding lead in F2 with an excellent fourth overall in qualifying and third in the A Final.
Nick Wallace also has a great evening qualifying for the A Final.
Courtney Orme and Alwyn Hodges fight it out in F3 with Alywn getting the upper hand.
Mike Simpson takes maximum points in the Mardave class, Paul Galbraith is second in qualifying but pushed down into third place in the final by his son Joshua.

Six minute heats and finals this week.

Qualifying

Louis Parker was the driver to beat with convincing wins in all three qualifying rounds, he was pushed hard by David Simpson in round three but had already set the best time in the previous round being a lap clear of anyone else. Gavin Maciver took third place and another super performance from Nick Bruty secured him fourth overall. Not to be outdone Nick Wallace also made the A Final just 0.1 seconds adrift of Nick Bruty.
Only two drivers in F3 this week so a great opportunity for a high league score. Courtney Orme was fastest with Alwyn Hodges a lap down, so advantage Courtney after qualifying.
In the Mardave class as usual the top three drivers best lap times were only separated by a few hundredths of a second. It was Mike Simpson who had the cleaner races and took top spot with Paul Galbraith nearly a lap down in second place.

Finals

Paul Galbraith set the fastest lap in the Mardave final, however it was Mike Simpson who was first across the finishing line followed by Joshua Galbraith.
The GT12 C Final was won by Jordan Galbraith, Courtney Orme and Alwyn Hodges were very close for most of the race and it was Alwyn who took second place to reverse the order in the qualifying. Scott Lewis did not make the starting grid to to a problem with his car.

Some great racing in the GT12 B Final resulting in a win for Chelle Snowden with some very quick lap times, Bob Harley was second almost a lap down and Dave Tomlinson took third place.

Louis Parker led the field away in the A Final from pole position and maintained his position at the front throughout the race – well done Louis. Gavin Maciver chased him all the way to the finish with some excellent driving to finish second, both drivers on 40 laps. Yet another exceptional drive from Nick Bruty saw him finish in third place – a great result.

So Louis extends his lead in the league with four rounds to go and Nick Bruty has only dropped a single point in six rounds in F2.

17-11-2015 AGM

Congratulations to Michelle Snowden on her new role as the Clubs Vice Chairman, taking over from Alun Williams.
Many thanks to Alun for all his fine work for the club over the past few years.

There was only time left for two qualifying rounds after the completion of the AGM.

Next week is Autumn League Round 6.

10-11-15 Autumn League Round 5

Another great evenings racing with James Hart winning the GT12 A final and Louis Parker in second place.
Nick Bruty continues his good form by making the A final again and taking maximum points in F2.
Bob Harley is second in F2 with his new car.
Selina Woods narrows Alister Hart’s lead by two points in F3.
Mike Simpson makes it four wins in a row in the V12 mardave class.

Track

A fast flowing track design this week.

Qualifying
After the three rounds of qualifying James Hart was fastest with Louis Parker just 3.20 seconds adrift, both drivers having 36 laps. Two laps down on these two was a tremendous battle between David Simpson, Darren Ford, Gavin Maciver, Nick Bruty and Chelle Snowden. They eventually qualified in this order, all on 34 laps, Nick being the best in F2.
Bob Harley was second in F2 followed closely by Matt Popejoy and Nick Wallace, all three drivers on 32 laps.
Alister Hart was again top qualifier in F3 with Selina Woods in second place.
Mike Simpson was top in the V12 mardave class followed by Jordan Galbraith.

Finals
First on was the GT12 C Final which saw Paul Galbraith have a runaway victory finishing three laps ahead of best placed F3 driver Selina Woods in second place. Courtney Orme was third and Scott Lewis had to settle for fourth place after problems with his car.
Mike Simpson won the V12 mardave final from pole position on the grid, Paul Galbraith set the fastest lap however and finished second a lap adrift, Joshua Galbraith was third.
The GT12 B Final Bob Harley had an excellent race to win, being a lap ahead of Nick Wallace and Chelle Snowden who were second and third respectively.
The A final was once again a very entertaining one to watch, James Hart and Louis Parker got away from the rest of the field to finish first and second with some great driving. There was very little to separate the other four drivers and with the race order changing several times it went down to the wire. Darren Ford took a fine third place followed by David Simpson in fourth.
Nick Bruty was fifth after losing a position late in the race and Gavin Maciver sixth just 0.25 seconds behind Nick.

03-11-15 Autumn League Round 4

Louis Parker wins again in the GT12 class with Gavin Maciver a close second in qualifying
Nick Wallace is the top qualifier in division 2 to earn a place in the A final
Alister Hart scores maximum points in division 3
Mike Simpson wins in the club mardave class, Roy Matthews beats three of “Team Galbraith” in the qualifying

Qualifying
Louis Parker was again in top form being the best qualifier on 34 laps, he was closely pursued by Gavin Maciver who also had his car flying round the track at great speed.
Some great driving from Nick Wallace put him in the number one spot in division 2 and fifth place overall, winning the “battle of the two Nick’s” by finishing just over two seconds ahead of Nick Bruty.
In division 3 Alister Hart had a good run in round three to push Courtney Orme down to second place.
Mike Simpson was top in the club mardave class followed by Joshua Galbraith, a super performance from Roy Matthews secured him third place with a “little run down” Paul Galbraith finishing last.

Finals
In the mardave final a “fully charged” Paul Galbraith quickly made his way through the field from last place on the grid into second place but could not catch Mike Simpson who was first over the finishing line. Joshua Galbraith also drove well to take third position.

Club Chairman Rob Hambridge had a comfortable win in the GT12 C final, four laps ahead of second placed driver Jake Galbraith. Alister Hart was the best division 3 driver by the massive margin of seven laps in front of his nearest competitor Alwyn Hodges (you missed all the excitement James!).

In the B final Nick Bruty was back to his form of last week with some more great driving to score a magnificent 52 laps with Bob Harley second on 51.

In the A final Louis Parker soon got away from the rest to win with 55 laps, Gavin Maciver was second with 53 laps and Darren Ford third on 51.
Nick Wallace could not quite match his performance in the qualifying and finished fourth on 49 laps, losing out in division 2 to Nick Bruty who got 52 laps in the B final.
