A good evening for “Team Hart” with James winning the GT12 A Final and his dad Alister winning the C Final
Louis Parker was the leading GT12 qualifier after the first two rounds
Nick Bruty wins the B Final and Matt Popejoy takes second place
Paul Galbraith dominates all the mardave V12 class races

Track

A very twisty design making overtaking very difficult – yes we did have to close the door to get rid of the glare from the evening sun!

Qualifying
Louis Parker made a great start to the evening by being the best qualifier in round 1 with some fine driving and maintained his position after round 2. James Hart was fastest in round 3 to take pole for the final followed by Louis in second place, Gavin Maciver was third and Dave Tomlinson fourth.
Matt Popejoy was the best in division 3 ahead of Scott Lewis and Courtney Orme.
In the club mardave class Paul Galbraith had comfortable victories in all three rounds, Mike Simpson was second and Joshua Galbraith finished ahead of Roy Matthews in division 2.

Finals
The mardave final went true to form with Paul Galbraith winning and Mike Simpson taking second place. A super performance from Roy Matthews secured him third place in front of both Joshua and Jake Galbraith.

The GT12 C Final was a remarkable race with all four drivers finishing on 31 laps after eight minutes. Alister Hart snatched the win from Courtney Orme with Alwyn Hodges in third place and Selina Woods fourth. Well done Selina!

The B Final saw a mixture of division 2 and 3 drivers, Matt Popejoy got off to a good start and was leading for the first five laps after which Nick Bruty overtook him and steadily built up a lead to win on 43 laps. There was little to separate Matt and Scott Lewis for most of the race, Matt taking second place on 40 laps and Scott third with 39.

In the A Final James Hart drove brilliantly to lead from start to finish, winning on 52 laps. Gavin Maciver got ahead of Louis Parker early in the race but Louis fought back and regained second place on lap 10. With positions changing a couple more times these two put on a great display and for most of the time being less than a second apart. It was Louis who crossed the finishing line just 0.31 seconds ahead of Gavin, both with 50 laps. Behind these two Chelle Snowden also had a good race to take fourth place and be best in division 2.

So Matt Popejoy extends his unbeaten run in the league to 9 rounds, just the ultimate round 10 to go next week to make a clean sweep – no pressure!

02-06-15 Spring League Round 8

Joshua Galbraith is top qualifier in the V12 Mardave Class but Jordan Galbraith storms to victory in the final
James Hart wins the GT12 A Final
Dave Tomlinson has a great drive to take the GT12 B Final, Bob Harley makes the A Final
Matt Popejoy extends his unbeaten run by winning the GT12 C final

Track

Qualifying
In the GT12 class James Hart took pole position for the A final being best qualifier with 34 laps, one lap ahead of Louis Parker and David Simpson.
Bob Harley was in sparkling form to head the division 2 drivers with 32 laps, Chelle Snowden was second with 31 laps.
Matt Popejoy was the fastest in division 3 getting 26 laps, just one ahead of fast improving Scott Lewis.
In the V12 Mardave class Joshua Galbraith was best with some great driving, Paul Galbraith was second. – well done Joshua!

Finals
First up were the V12 Mardaves and Joshua Galbraith made a good start from pole position on the grid with the rest of the field in hot pursuit. Mike Simpson took the lead on lap 9 and then followed some very close racing between Mike and Jordan Galbraith with the lead changing hands several times. A mistake by Mike let Jordan catch up and overtake on lap 30 and he went on to win with 41 laps, Mike was second on 40 and Paul Galbraith third on 29 laps. Another very exciting race!

In the GT12 C final Matt Popejoy starting from pole was in the lead all of the race, Scott Lewis was his nearest challenger and finished second 4 laps down. This is now eight wins out of eight for Matt in the league.

The GT12 B final developed into a battle between Dave Tomlinson, Chelle Snowden and Nick Bruty all of these drivers being very evenly matched. It was Dave who won the day with 48 laps, Chelle and Nick being second and third respectively on 47 laps just half a second apart.

The last race of the evening was the GT12 A Final, this was great to watch with some very skillful driving from James Hart to record yet another fine win with 53 laps. A racing incident on the first lap saw David Simpson and Gavin Maciver down at the back of the field, David eventually caught and overtook Bob Harley who had a tremendous evenings racing, Louis Parker was well clear of these two to take second place on 52 laps. At the end David was third on 51 laps, Bob fourth on 50 just ahead of Gavin Maciver. Great Race!

26-05-15 Spring League Round 7

James Hart wins again in the GT12 class, David Simpson is second
Chelle Snowden is fourth in the “A” Final and extends her lead in division 2
Matt Popejoy makes the “B” Final and extends his run of maximum points in division 3 to seven – only three more to make it a full house
Paul Galbraith is the top V12 mardave driver

Track

Qualifying
After having problems with his batteries in the first two qualifying heats, Paul Galbraith put in a good drive in round 3 to be top qualifier 4/10th second ahead of Mike Simpson. Joshua Galbraith was the fastest division 2 driver followed by Roy Matthews.
In the GT12 class James Hart was two laps faster than both David Simpson in second place and Gavin Maciver, third only a few seconds apart.
Chelle Snowden was fastest in division 2, being a lap clear of Dave Tomlinson and Bob Harley who were second and third respectively.
In division 3 Matt Popejoy was a lap ahead of both Courtney Orme and Scott Lewis to keep him on track for yet another maximum points evening.

Finals
Paul Galbraith got off to a fine start in the V12 Final and was never seriously challenged for the lead, finishing 4 seconds ahead of Mike Simpson. Jordan Galbraith was the best placed division 2 driver and Roy Matthews was second.

Scott Lewis had a great run in the GT12 “C” Final to win with 38 laps, but this was not quite good enough to beat Matt Popejoy who managed 42 laps in the “B” final to be top division 3 driver once again. Alister Hart took second place and Selina Woods racing at the club for the first time this year third.

Bob Harley had a comfortable win in the “B” final on 48 laps, being 2 laps clear of second place driver Nick Wallace.

Last up was the GT12 “A” Final, a great race this with James Hart on top form to lead from start to finish and win on 53 laps, behind him there was a tremendous battle for second place between David Simpson and Gavin Maciver. There was little to separate these two drivers for lap after lap, Gavin’s car was a little faster but he was unable to get past David despite putting him under sustained pressure. Unfortunately Gavin had a mishap two laps from the end of the race and David went on to take second place with 51 laps, Gavin being third on 50. Chelle Snowden and Dave Tomlinson also had a very close race with Chelle snatching fourth place from Dave on the very last lap to be best division 2 driver. – well done Chelle!

Just three more rounds to go in the Spring league.

22-05-15 Clubnight on Friday this week only

Clubnight was moved to Friday evening for this week only due to the hall being used for another function, this together with the Bank holiday resulted in fewer drivers – nevertheless it was a good evenings racing.

Track

Gavin Maciver was the best GT12 driver, being top qualifier and winning the A Final in style, Rob Hambridge was second in the qualifying two laps up on Nick Bruty. However it was Nick who took second place in the Final, two laps ahead of Rob.
Some excellent consistent high speed driving by Gavin – well done.

Mike Simpson won the GT12 B Final, Matt Popejoy was second and look out for new member Scott Lewis who took third place – expect him to give Matt a run for his money next week in the Spring League!

Yet another incredible race in the Mardave V12 Final with Mike Simpson leading off from pole position being chased by Paul, Jordan and Joshua Galbraith. The loss of a tyre put paid to Jordan’s challenge leaving Mike and Paul to fight it out for the win. After an incredibly close contest with Paul in close pursuit Mike had a crash just before the final bend of the last lap, Paul shot by only to be involved in a racing incident himself allowing Mike to recover his position and win, – what a race, it does not get much better than this!

Back to the Spring League next Tuesday, can Matt Popejoy retain his unbeaten record?????

12-05-15 Spring League Round 6

A good evenings racing with Louis Parker being top GT12 qualifier, Gavin Maciver second on the same lap as Louis, Chelle Snowden and Bob Harley being third and fourth respectively a lap down. Matt Popejoy was the fastest qualifier in division 3 followed by Alister Hart.

Matt Popejoy won the GT12 C Final to continue his run of maximum points, Scott Lewis was second and Courtney Orme third.

Darren Ford found himself in the B Final which he duly won, Dave Tomlinson took second place and Nick Bruty third.

The A Final saw Louis Parker lead from start to finish being chased by Gavin Maciver who finished in second place a lap behind. Chelle Snowden had a good drive to finish third a full two laps ahead of Bob Harley.

REMEMBER THAT CLUBNIGHT IS FRIDAY NEXT WEEK (22nd May) DUE TO THE HALL NOT BEING AVAILABLE ON TUESDAY 19th May

05-05-15 Spring League Round 5

Jordan Galbraith wins all the V12 Mardave qualifying rounds and the Final
Louis Parker is the top GT12 driver being unbeaten all evening
A great performance from Chelle Snowden to score maximum points in division 2
Matt Popejoy continues his unbeaten run in division 3

Track
Some very tight sections this week

Qualifying
Jordan Galbraith was the top qualifier in the V12 Mardave class with some excellent driving, Mike Simpson was second and Paul Galbraith third all being on 22 laps.
Louis Parker was much quicker than the other drivers in the GT12 class with only Darren Ford making a serious challenge, Louis won all the heats and achieved 29 laps, Darren was second with 28 and Gavin Maciver third on 27.
In division 2 there was some close racing between Chelle Snowden and Dave Tomlinson, Dave won round 1 but Chelle won rounds 2 and 3 to have the better time by 4 seconds. Bob Harley was third with 25 laps.
Matt Popejoy was the quickest of the division 3 drivers once again and was best qualifier on 21 laps, Alister Hart was second a lap down.

Finals
In the Mardave final Jordan Galbraith starting from pole on the grid lead the race from start to finish to win, behind him there was a serious battle for second place between Mike Simpson and Paul Galbraith. Mike had a lead of 3 seconds mid-way through the race but then Paul started to gradually reel him in, with one and a half minutes to go he had caught up and for the remaining laps the cars were only inches apart, a slight error by Mike on the last bend gave Paul an opportunity to get past, the cars crossing the line together with Mike still having 0.27 seconds advantage. A great race!
Well done Jordan on being the top Mardave and “Team Galbraith” driver this week, beating his dad Paul – will there be team orders in the next round?

The GT12 C Final was yet another Matt Popejoy victory, making five maximum points out of five at the mid point of the league. Looks like almost certain promotion to division 2 for the summer league. Alister Hart took second place three laps down.

Ashley King got his car going well in the GT12 B Final to score an impressive 41 laps and win, Bob Harley just got the better of Nick Bruty to take second place with Nick third, both drivers on 39 laps.

A crash on the first bend dropped pole position driver Louis Parker down to second place in the GT12 A Final with Darren Ford taking the lead. Louis was soon right behind him and thrilling race ensued with Darren under constant pressure, the lead changed hands a couple of times near the middle of the race and Darren was still leading up to lap 31. A slight mistake by Darren gave Louis the opportunity he was waiting for and he went on to win by over 4 seconds. Darren was second and a tremendous drive by Chelle Snowden earned her third place and the best division 2 driver, Dave Tomlinson was fourth.
Good stuff Louis, a great race to watch!

28-04-15 Spring League Round 4

David Simpson wins the GT12 “A” Final to end James Hart’s unbeaten record in the league
Chelle Snowden now leads GT12 division 2
Matt Popejoy is now the only driver left with a 100% record in the league

Track
A Gavin Maciver / Matt Popejoy design this week

Qualifying
James Hart missed the first round but still managed his usual top qualifying position in the GT12 class. Louis Parker was less than five seconds behind him though with David Simpson third two laps down.
Chelle Snowden was the best in GT12 division 2, two and a half seconds ahead of Nick Bruty
Matt Popejoy was the top GT12 division 3 driver, followed by Alister Hart.
Mike Simpson qualified for pole position in the final by being best qualifier in the V12 Mardave class
Jordan Galbraith was the highest placed V12 division 2 driver followed by Roy Matthews.

Finals
The Mardave final was first and Mike Simpson took an early lead until a third of the way through the race when Jordan Galbraith overtook Mike to lead. Paul Galbraith was driving quickly and caught up Jordan on lap seventeen, overtook him and kept the lead until the end of the race. Mike was second four seconds down and Jordan third. A good race this with the cars very evenly matched.
League leader Matt Popejoy was under pressure to win the GT12 “B” final starting from yet another pole position on the grid. Alister Hart chased him hard during the first third of the race with the lead changing hands four times before Matt built up and extended his lead. He held up under the stress to take another win by one lap from Alister and retain his unbeaten record in the league.
James Hart got a good start in the GT12 “A” Final and steadily built up a convincing lead over Louis Parker who was being chased by David Simpson. Louis and David were driving well and only tenths of a second separated them for lap after lap with David in hot pursuit but unable to get past Louis. On lap 28 David moved up into second place with James being 8 seconds ahead of him at this time. By lap 40 the gap had closed to 1 second and going into the final lap they were less than 1/10th second apart, David overtook James on the final bend to win the race on 48 laps. Louis was third on 47 with Gavin Maciver fourth on the same lap.
Behind these drivers Chelle Snowden and Nick Bruty were battling for the top division 2 position and it was Chelle who got the better of Nick to get maximum points and make her the new division 2 leader.

The pressure will be on Matt Popejoy as he is now the only driver who has scored maximum points in all the four rounds of the league, I am sure that all the GT12 division 3 drivers will be trying their hardest next week to end his run of success!

Matt Popejoy was two laps clear in division 3, Alister Hart being second.

In the GT12 C Final Matt Popejoy had a comfortable win moving him up to the top of the league, Alwyn Hodges took second place four laps down ahead of Alister Hart.

Bob Harley was on pole for the B Final and had a keenly contested battle with Nick Bruty who was sporting a dazzling new bodyshell. Nick had a few issues with his car and Bob capitalised on these to win by two laps.

James Hart won the A Final and set the fastest lap, Louis Parker also put in some very quick laps to take second place.
Chelle Snowden was the top division 2 driver with some excellent driving to finish in fourth place, nine seconds ahead of her nearest rival Dave Tomlinson.

14-04-2015 Spring League Round 3

A less than usual number of drivers this week due to the Easter break, however there was still plenty of good racing.
James Hart and Matt Popejoy both extended their unbeaten run in the league.
David Simpson has a great drive in the B Final to be second fastest in the finals behind James Hart

Track

Qualifying
James Hart yet again qualified for pole position in the GT12 class, Louis Parker and Darren Ford were evenly matched all evening with Darren winning round 1 but Louis got the upper hand in the last round of qualifying by the narrowest of margins 1/100th second to be second fastest qualifier. Dave Tomlinson was also in sparkling form to take fourth spot and a place in the A Final.
Only two V12 Mardaves this week with Mike Simpson getting the edge over Roy Matthews who now seems to have got his car sorted and performing well.

Finals
GT12 D / V12 Final
With the two V12 Mardaves mixed in with the GT12 cars of Alwyn Hodges and Courtney Orme this was an interesting race, in the end it was the Mardave Drivers Mike Simpson and Roy Matthews who took the first two places with some very consistent driving. Alwyn finished ahead of Courtney to gain some valuable league points.

GT12 C Final
Nick Wallace had an easy win with Matt Popejoy in second place and best of the division 3 drivers increasing his lead in the league.

GT12 B Final
Nick Bruty was on pole but it was David Simpson who had an excellent race to win and beat all of the A Finalists apart from James Hart. Chelle Snowden was second with Nick having to settle for third place.

GT12 A Final
James Hart was three laps ahead of everyone else with a magnificent 50 laps, just as in the qualifying there was a fantastic race for second place between Louis Parker and Darren Ford. Darren got off to a slow start but gradually caught up Louis and overtook him on lap 37. Louis chased Darren hard and got past him on lap 40 and for the next 7 laps they were locked in a battle to the finish line – Louis held on to his position to to finish 0.15 seconds ahead.

Finals
In the V12 mardave final Paul Galbraith was the winner after chasing Mike Simpson for the first 19 laps, Mike finished second with Joshua Galbraith and Glyn Butlin third and fourth – Joshua also set the fastest lap – good stuff!
GT12 C Final
A great race this turned out to be between Matt Popejoy who was on pole position and car 2 Frankie Hallam. Matt made a poor start and Frankie took the lead on the first lap, these two were never more than a few seconds apart and the lead changed hands seven times during the race with Frankie just snatching victory. Behind these two Alwyn Hodges was third and Jack Walsh was fourth – well done Jack!
GT12 B Final
This was also a very keenly contested race, Keith Heathcote, Nick Bruty, Dave Tomlinson and Chelle Snowden all driving well at a very similar pace. Keith took the lead initially but Nick got by on lap 10 with Dave Tomlinson also in hot pursuit.
Keith was first past the finishing line by less than 1 second after six changes in leader, Nick was second and Dave third all on 41 laps with Chelle fourth on 40.
GT12 A Final
Another fine performance from James Hart saw him lead the race from start to finish and set the fastest lap. There was a superb battle for second place for the whole duration of the race between Darren Ford, Louis Parker and David Simpson, Louis overtaking Darren four laps from the end to claim second place, Darren was third and David Simpson fourth.
