27-10-15 Superleague Round 5

Louis Parker storms to victory in the GT12 class.
Nick Bruty is second in the A Final with an outstanding performance.
Bob Harley wins the B Final with David Simpson in second place.
Selina Woods wins the C Final by a margin of six laps.
Mike Simpson is fastest qualifier in the club V12 Mardave class and wins the final ahead of Joshua Galbraith.

Qualifying (5 minutes)
Louis Parker set the fastest lap time and took pole position for the A Final with some tremendous driving, his average lap time being less than any of the other drivers fastest laps! Gavin Maciver, Dave Tomlinson, Darren Ford and Chelle Snowden were all one lap down and finished second, third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Matt Popejoy was the best division 3 driver one lap ahead of Scott Lewis, with Selina Woods a further lap behind.

In the Mardave class Mike Simpson had a great evening being three laps ahead of second place driver Jordan Galbraith, Joshua Galbraith was third and his brother Jake fourth, all beating their dad Paul – no team orders here!

Finals (8 minutes)
Mike Simpson was in the lead from start to finish to win the Mardave final by four laps. Joshua Galbraith was second with Paul Galbraith starting from the back of the grid took third place a further two laps behind. Despite the result all the cars were closely matched with the best lap times of the top three drivers being separated by only 6/100th of a second.

In the GT12 C Final Selina Woods cruised to an easy win, her nearest rival Joshua Galbraith finished in second place a full six laps adrift.

David Simpson took an early lead in the GT12 B final but Bob Harley was the eventual winner with some consistent driving, David finished second a lap down and Nick Wallace was third.

Everyone was looking forward to the last race of the evening and were not to be disappointed.
Louis Parker had an almost faultless drive to set the fastest lap time and win the race by two laps.
Nick Bruty starting from last position on the grid had an incredible race working his way through the field up to second place and finishing just in front of Gavin Maciver who was third.
A superb race to conclude the evening.

Just one more round to go in the superleague which will be held in December.

20-10-15 Autumn League Round 3

Qualifying

James Hart was the top qualifier in the GT12 Class with 37 laps and setting the fastest laptime, Louis Parker was a close second and Darren Ford third with 36 laps.
Nick Bruty was the best in division 2 with 34 laps, Bob Harley was in second place also on 34 laps and Scott Lewis third with 31.
In division 3 Selina Woods was the leader on 29 laps, Alister Hart second with 25 and Alwyn Hodges in third place on 21 laps.
Mike Simpson was fastest of the Mardave V12 drivers with 31 laps followed by Jordan Galbraith 29 laps beating his dad Paul by 1 lap.

Track

Before the finals the Summer League trophies were presented by the club Chairman Rob Hambridge.

Finals

First up was the Mardave final which developed into a fantastic race between Mike Simpson, Paul Galbraith and Jordan Galbraith who were evenly matched with the lead changing hands several times during the eight minute race. Jordan looked to have the race in the bag but Mike Simpson and Paul Galbraith got past him in the last thirty seconds to finish first and second respectively, all three with 45 laps. Good race!

In the GT12 C final Selina Woods extended her lead in division 3 with another maximum points, her nearest challenger was Alister Hart who finished in second place, Alwyn Hodges was third.

Some excellent racing in the B final with pole position driver Nick Bruty being chased by an “in form” Bob Harley, Nick was the eventual winner with Bob a lap down. Behind these two Scott Lewis and Rob Hambridge had a superb battle with Rob snatching third place right near the end of the race.

James Hart won the A final with some exceptional driving, setting the fastest lap time of the evening. Another great performance from Louis Parker assured him of second place with Darren Ford finishing third just ahead of Gavin Maciver. A great finish to the evening.

Nick Bruty and Selina Woods retain their unbeaten records for all three rounds of the league.

13-10-15 Autumn League Round 2

Louis Parker was fastest qualifier, also setting the fastest lap and took pole position in the GT12 A final

Selina Woods retains her unbeaten record in division 3
Mike Simpson was fastest in the club mardave class and also wins the final
Roy Matthews was the best placed division 2 driver in the final

Qualifying
A great drive in round 2 by Louis Parker earned him pole position on the grid for the A final three seconds ahead of James Hart with visiting driver Andrew Slingsby a further 0.51 seconds down.
In division 2 Nick Bruty set the pace with Nick Wallace second and Bob Harley in third place, both these drivers being a lap down on the leader.
Selina Woods was the best placed division 3 driver, her nearest rival was Alister Hart being 2 laps behind.

In the V12 mardave class Mike Simpson had a good evening being the top qualifier 1 lap ahead of Paul Galbraith. Jordan Galbraith was best in division 2.

Finals
Mike Simpson had a steady drive to win the mardave final, it was very close though with Paul Galbraith making up ground near the end of the race to finish in second place just 1.04 seconds behind. Roy Matthews put in some good laps to be the top placed division 2 driver.

The GT12 C final was fast and furious as usual, Scott Lewis was going well but a pod coming loose put him out half way through the race. This left Mike Simpson, Jordan Galbraith and Selina Woods to fight for the top three places. Mike was the eventual winner a lap clear of Jordan and Selina took third place and best in division 3 with some great driving.

All the drivers in the B final drove well and the race developed into a repeat of last weeks battle between the “two Nick’s” Nick Bruty and Nick Wallace. In the end Nick Bruty again won the day with Nick Wallace second 1 lap down. Guest driver James Sutton was third.

The last race of the evening was the GT12 A final and with Louis Parker on pole everyone was waiting to see if he could win from the front of the grid. A very exciting eight minutes of racing followed with some extremely fast lap times and it was James Hart who came out on top to win with Louis taking a fine second place and Andrew Slingsby third. Another super race – well done to all of the drivers, it made me dizzy just watching!

So after two round of the league only two drivers remain with maximum points, Nick Bruty in division 2 and Selina Woods in division 3. A good start for these two but remember it is the best eight from a possible round scores to count.

06-10-15 Autumn League Round 1

A great start to the new Autumn League with some incredibly close racing and maximum league points for James Hart, Nick Bruty and Selina Woods.

Qualifying
James Hart was the top qualifier in the GT12 class with 34 laps with Louis Parker second and Gavin Maciver third both 1 lap down.
Nick Bruty and Nick Wallace had some tremendous races in “battle of the Nick’s” during all three qualifying rounds, both drivers getting 31 laps with Nick Bruty being the victor and securing a well earned place in the A Final.
Selina Woods was the highest placed driver in division 3 followed by Courtney Orme.
Mike Simpson was top qualifier in the club V12 Mardave class, Paul Galbraith was a lap down.

Finals
The Mardave final produced one of the closest racing for several months, with Dave Tomlinson leading there was a superb race for second place between Mike Simpson, Paul Galbraith and Joshua Galbraith. During the middle of the race these three were only separated by a few inches for about fifteen laps when Mike made an error letting the other two past to eventually finish in these positions.
Paul was straight out for the next race and won the GT12 C Final by 4 laps from division 3 drivers Selina Woods in second and Courtney Orme in third place. A good start to the league for Selina with maximum points.
In the GT12 B Final in form Nick Wallace starting from pole position gradually pulled out a lead from the rest of the field with some accurate driving. Behind him Matt Popejoy and Bob Harley were fighting for second place, with a small gap between them Matt put in two great laps at the end to finish in second place with Bob third. It was also good to see the Club Chairman Rob Hambridge return to form and take fourth place just 0.45 seconds in front of Scott Lewis in another nail biting finish.
The last race was the GT12 A Final where the ultra fast and consistent James Hart had another win followed by a fine drive by Louis Parker to take second place. Gavin Maciver was third just six seconds adrift of Louis and Nick Bruty took fourth place and maximum points in division 2 – a great drive Nick!
A very exciting evenings racing – can it get any better than this!

29-09-15 September Clubnight

An ordinary clubnight before the start of the new Autumn League next week.

Qualifying
Some good close racing, Louis Parker set the pace in qualifying to take pole position in the A Final with Gavin Maciver in second place and Nick Bruty third.
Dave Tomlinson running his Zen alongside the mardave V12 cars was two laps ahead of Mike Simpson with Joshua Galbraith third and Roy Matthews fourth.

Finals
In the Mardave Final Dave Tomlinson was the winner with some quick, consistent driving but Joshua Galbraith gave him a run for his money with a super drive, setting the fastest lap and finishing in second place just 1.21 seconds adrift. Jordan Galbraith was third to complete a great evening for “Team Galbraith” – Good driving Joshua!

The GT12 C Final went right to the wire with Mike Simpson snatching the lead from Scott Lewis on the final lap, visiting driver Grant Woodcock starting from the back of the grid finished third.

Ever improving Matt Popejoy had a fine run in the B Final to win with Nick Wallace in second position six seconds behind. Courtney Orme was third.

As usual the last race of the evening was the GT12 A Final, Nick Bruty got off to a flying start but it was Louis Parker who won with some superb driving and setting the fastest lap. Gavin Maciver and Dave Tomlinson had a very close race for second place, Dave was first across the line just 0.24 seconds ahead of Gavin. Well done Dave!

22-09-15 Summer League Final round

A good finish to the Summer League which has been contested over ten rounds with each drivers best eight rounds to count towards the final score.

Louis Parker after his recent success in becoming the Under 13 BRCA National Touring Car Champion – a major achievement, had a great evening dominating the GT12 heats and also winning the A Final.

Gavin Maciver was second fastest qualifier and finished in second place in the A Final with Dave Tomlinson chasing him all the way to the finishing line to snatch the Division 2 title from Nick Bruty by just two points. Bob Harley qualified fourth to also made the A Final pushing Division 1 drivers Chelle Snowden and David Simpson down into the B final.

Chelle won the B Final with David finishing in second place and Matt Popejoy third, Scott Lewis was best in division 3 to assure him of the league title. Club Chairman Rob Hambridge was back racing after a few weeks break won the C final and Paul Galbraith trying out his GT12 for the first time was second.

In the Mardave class Joshua Galbraith just failed to repeat his winning performance of last week, he put in the fastest laps of the final but a few minor errors let Mike Simpson into the lead and be first to cross the finishing line.

The league winners were a follows.

GT12 Division 1 James Hart – James achieved a 100% record over his eight rounds with some tremendous driving.
Gavin Maciver was second and Darren Ford third just 1 point behind.

GT12 Division winner was Dave Tomlinson, Nick Bruty was second and Bob Harley third.

GT12 Division 3 was won by Scott Lewis with Selina Woods in second place and Courtney Orme third.

Mardave Division 1 was won by Mike Simpson with the runner up being Paul Galbraith.

The Mardave Division 2 was won by Joshua Galbraith, Roy Matthews finishing in second place.

Next week is an ordinary clubnight.

15-09-15 Summer League Round 9

Louis Parker leads the way in the GT12 class

Track

Qualifying
Louis Parker was in tremendous form to be best qualifier with 34 laps which was a full two laps better than second placed driver Nick Bruty who also put in some great driving to beat the other division 1 drivers.

Things were very close in division 3 with Scott Lewis just being fastest 0.09 seconds ahead of Courtney Orme.

In the Mardave class Mike Simpson was best with 27 laps followed by Roy Matthews who drove well to take second place ahead of Joshua Galbraith.

Finals
Joshua Galbraith won the Mardave final with a fine performance beating pole position driver Mike Simpson into second place. well done Josh – can he win again next week?

Scott Lewis had an easy win in the GT12 C Final being four laps ahead of Matt Popejoy who had a mechanical failure on his car about a minute from the end of the race.

The B Final was a superb race with Bob Harley starting from pole position and chased all the way through the race by Dave Tomlinson, Bob held onto his position to win by just over three seconds with Dave taking second place and Nick Wallace third.

In the A Final Louis Parker starting from pole position had his car flying and with an almost faultless drive had a runaway victory setting the fastest lap and finishing three laps clear of the other drivers – good stuff Louis!
Behind him there was a frantic battle for second and third places between Gavin Maciver, Darren Ford and Nick Bruty, at the finish they finished in this order all on the same lap. A great race to watch!

Who can roll up a carpet the neatest?

Next week is the final round of the current summer league, several positions will be decided by the results, especially in division 2 where new leader Nick Bruty is just three points ahead of Dave Tomlinson – will look forward to an exciting finish.

08-09-15 Summer League Round 8

James Hart continues his run of winning all eight rounds – can he make it ten out of ten?

A tricky track this week demanding the correct line to set a quick lap time.

In the qualifying James hart was fastest followed by Louis Parker and David Simpson who were separated by less than two seconds.
Dave Tomlinson was in good form and earning him a place in the A Final, along with visiting driver David Underwood.

Scott Lewis was the best in division 3 followed by Courtney Orme.

After a motor failure in round 2, Mike Simpson set the pace in the mardave class, Paul Galbraith finished in second place.

Eight minute finals this week and Mike Simpson won the mardave final with Jordan Galbraith second and Joshua Galbraith in third place – their dad Paul had to retire after three laps due to problems with his car – I wonder who was supposed to have charged the batteries????

In the GT12 C Final Courtney Orme had a convincing win being two laps clear of league leader Selina Woods who had struggled with her car setup in the qualifying.

The B final was an excellent race with Nick Bruty winning with a magnificent 50 laps, Nick Wallace was second on 46 laps and Matt Popejoy third with 43 laps.

Some excellent driving in the A Final by James Hart and Louis Parker to take the first two places and Dave Tomlinson put in another great drive to be third and best division 2 driver.

Just two rounds left in the Summer League, best eight from a possible ten rounds to count.

01-09-15 Summer League Round 7

James Hart wins again, David Hall was a very close second
In form Nick Bruty takes maximum points for the second week running in division 2
Scott Lewis is two laps ahead of division 3 league leader Selina Woods in the C Final and reducing her league lead
Another great evening for “Team Galbraith” with Joshua being top qualifier in the club Mardave class and his brother Jordan winning the final

Another good evenings racing with James Hart taking the top qualifier spot after three rounds with a magnificent 35 laps, David Hall, Gavin Maciver and David Simpson were all a lap down on James.
Nick Bruty was the quickest in division 2 with 32 laps just under a second ahead of Dave Tomlinson in second place, Matt Popejoy was third on 29 laps.
Scott Lewis had a great drive in round 3 to take the top place in division 3 with 28 laps, Courtney Orme was second and Selina Woods third.
Some tremendous driving from Joshua Galbraith again this week earned him the top qualifier place in the Mardave class with Mike Simpson second a lap down and Paul Galbraith in third spot.

Joshua Galbraith started from pole position in the Mardave final and made a good start as did his brother Jordan, problems with his car on lap 25 put an end to Joshua’s chances of winning the race. Jordan however had a superb race to win with 32 laps, Mike Simpson was second on 31 and Paul Galbraith third on 30 laps. Joshua set the fastest lap time and eventually finished in fourth place.

The GT12 D Final was next and Alister Hart won the race on 29 laps with some very consistent driving, Alwyn Hodges was second on 27 laps and Jack Walsh took third place with 25 followed by Jamie Hall on 23.

Nick Wallace was in the lead from start to finish to win the C Final with 35 laps followed by Mike Simpson on 33 and Scott Lewis on 32 laps.

The B Final was a very close race with the first three drivers all finishing on 37 laps, it was Chelle Snowden who was first across the finishing line with Nick Bruty second and Dave Tomlinson in third place.

James Hart starting from pole set the fastest lap time of 8.48 seconds in a fast and furious race, David Hall kept the pressure on James throughout the race and finished just 1.49 seconds adrift in second place, both drivers on 41 laps. Behind these two Gavin Maciver and David Simpson had a great contest for third place, Gavin capitalised on a mistake by David on lap 24 and held on to finish third, both drivers on 39 laps.

25-08-15 Summer League Round 6

Jordan Galbraith wins the V12 Mardave final, his brother Joshua was second, both leaving their dad Paul trailing six laps down in fifth place.

Back to the current Summer League this week, James Hart was the top qualifier with 36 laps, followed by Darren Ford, Gavin Maciver and David Simpson all on 35 laps. Division 2 drivers Nick Bruty and Bob Harley also put in great performances to make the A Final.
Scott Lewis was fastest in division 3 followed by Selina Woods.
In the V12 Mardave class Paul Galbraith was the best qualifier followed by Mike Simpson just 2.5 seconds behind. Joshua Galbraith was the top division 2 driver with Roy Matthews second.

Six minute finals this week, as usual the Mardave drivers were first to go.
Tremendous performances from both Jordan and Joshua Galbraith who dominated the race to finish first and second with 45 laps and beating the three division 1 drivers including their dad Paul. Well done, lets see if you can repeat the result next week!

In the GT12 C Final Selina Woods left everyone for dust as she stormed her way to victory with 33 laps, Courtney was second with 28 laps finishing just ahead of Alwyn Hodges. Fast improving Jack Walsh also put in a good drive to get 26 laps.

Dave Tomlinson fresh from his win last week in the F2 Stock Car “world” championship at Bicester, duly won the B Final wth 39 laps, Nick Wallace was also in top form to take second place two laps down. Scott Lewis was fourth with 33 laps but Selina was 1.75 seconds faster to be the best in division 3.

The A Final was a pleasure to watch with all the drivers lapping under 9 seconds, Darren Ford and Gavin Maciver gave James Hart a good run for his money but James was first across the finishing line with some fantastic driving.

Just four more rounds to go in the league with the best 8 out of a possible 10 rounds scores to count look forward to some close finishes.
