Autumn League Round 6

Tuesday 26th November – Autumn League Round 6 – Louis storms the “A” Final

Starting from second position on the grid behind his dad Richard, Louis put in a stunning performance to win the “A” final, setting the fastest lap time along the way.  Richard finished in second position with Darren Ford third.  Looks like Louis has taken over as the number one driver in “Team Parker”, no team orders here.

Michelle Snowden took maximum points in division 2, winning the “B” final by two laps, Paul Galbraith and Bob Harley had a very close race for second position with Bob eventually gaining the upper hand to cross the finishing line 1 second clear of Paul who was third.

In division 3 Roy Matthews closed in on the league leader Courtney Orme with another maximum points, Courtney was second in the “C” final after being the slowest qualifier and Alwyn Hodges was third.

Just two more rounds to go in the autumn league!

AGM

Tuesday 19th November – AGM and Free Racing – Dave Tomlinson in winning form

After the Annual General Meeting there was just enough time for three qualifying rounds of racing with the usual 6 minute duration heats.

Roy Matthews was the best in division 3 with 26 laps, Alwyn Hodges second on 25 and Courtney Orme third with 23.

Bob Harley and Paul Galbraith battled for the top position in division 2, both eventually finished with 33 laps with Bob taking the honours.  Some good driving from Jenson Butlin secured him third place.

There was some exceptionally close racing in division 1 between the first four drivers who all completed 34 laps and were separated by less than 4.5 seconds.  Dave Tomlinson was the victor, Richard Parker second, Mike Simpson third and Graham Oxford fourth.

Autumn League Round 6

Tuesday 12th November – Autumn League Round 5

Darren Ford was top qualifier after three heats with James Hart second and Richard Parker third.  In the “A” final it was James who set the fastest lap time and came out on top with Darren second and finishing Richard third.

Bob Harley was the best qualifier in division 2 to win a place in the “A” final and earn maximum 41 points with a fine drive. Paul Galbraith had another excellent drive to win the “B” final. Jenson Butlin took third place and retains his lead in the league.

Courtney Orme was the division 3 fastest qualifier but it was Roy Matthews who was highest placed in the finals with Selina Woods second and Courtney third.

See the results page for the current league positions.

Autumn League Round 4

Tuesday 5th November – Autumn League Round 4

Bonfire night and there were certainly some fireworks on the track, especially in the “A” and “B” finals.  James Hart was on pole for the “A” final with Daniel Williams car 2 and Richard Parker car 3.  James found himself down in fifth position after three laps with Louis Parker in the lead.  This was soon to change as Richard went to the front with Daniel chasing. Some excellent close racing then followed between the first three drivers with James regaining the lead on lap 20 only for Richard to overtake him on lap 22. In the end it was James who took the lead on lap 31 and held on to win from Richard second and Daniel third – a great race!

The “B” final it was Michelle Snowden who won by 2 laps ahead of Paul Galbraith and Robert Hambridge who were neck and neck throughout the race with Paul crossing the finishing line 2 seconds ahead of Robert.

Mike Simpson won the “C” final after being the slowest qualifier of the evening, a very good race by Joshua Galbraith earned him second place with Roy Matthews third.

Racing in the dark

Tuesday 29th October – Racing in the dark!

A fun type evening with drivers fitting lighting systems to their cars and racing in semi darkness with the hall lights out.  The standard of driving was surprisingly good with very few crashes occurring, it certainly aids concentration when vision is very limited.  Not a good idea to have a black coloured car with no lights as one member quickly found out.

James Hart was the top driver of the evening closely followed by Richard Parker and Darren Ford all achieving 32 laps.

Prizes of a free weeks racing for the best car lighting systems went Joshua Galbraith and Michelle Snowden.

Back to normal racing with the Autumn league round 4 next week.

Super League 2013 Round 5

Tuesday 22nd October 2013 – Super League Round 5 – Michelle gets maximum points again

The penultimate round of this year’s super league was run on a very fast, flowing track layout, making a mistake at high speed was to be avoided.  The fastest lap in the qualifying was set by Dave Tomlinson who also was top qualifier just two seconds better than Richard Parker.

In the “A” final Mike Simpson was the quickest but Richard Parker was first over the finishing line to win with Dave a close second.  Michelle Snowden continued where she left off last week to be top qualifier in division 2, Bob Harley was in second spot, both drivers making the “A” final.  In the final it was Michelle who was best being fourth place overall, Bob was second and a fine performance from Jenson Butlin assured him of third place.  Division 3 saw Roy Matthews win the qualifying a clear lap ahead of Selina Woods with Alwyn Hodges third.  In the finals Selina was the victor, two laps ahead of Roy followed by  Courtney Orme who was third.

Just one round left in the super league which will be held in December, should be an interesting evening as many of the leading positions could yet change.

Autumn League Round 3

Tuesday 15th October 2013 – Autumn League Round 3 – Michelle gets maximum points

David Simpson was fastest qualifier of the evening and took pole position in the “A” final, Richard Parker was in top form and won the final with Dave Tomlinson second. A tremendous performance from Michelle Snowden earned her third place in the “A” final after qualifying third fastest overall. Bob Harley was second in division 2 and Paul Galbraith third. Roy Mathews was best qualifier in division 3 followed by Shane Stones and Selina Woods. In the final Shane had a convincing win with Selina second and Roy third.

Autumn League Round 2

Tuesday 8th October 2013 – Autumn League Round 2 – Maximum points for Daniel Williams and Selina Woods

A change of leaders in two of the divisions this week with Daniel Williams edging ahead of week 1 leader Richard Parker in division 1 after some fine driving.  Jenson Butlin retained his lead in division 2 despite maximum points from Michelle Snowden and good performances from Bob Harley. The new leader in division 3 is Selina Woods who also scored maximum points and is now two points ahead of both Courtney Orme and Alwyn Hodges.

Autumn League Round 1

Tuesday 1st October 2013 – Autumn League  – Richard, Jenson and Roy set the pace in the new league

This was the first round of the new Autumn League and Richard Parker got off to a good start in the defence of his division 1 title with an unbeatable performance and maximum points.  Matthew Stones was top qualifier in division 2 but some great driving from Jenson Butlin won him the final and a single point lead over Matthew overall.  Not to be outdone by Matthew, Shane Stones was the best qualifier in division 3 only to be beaten by Roy Matthews in the finals who leads by one point. This was the first round of eight with the best six for each driver to count.
