14-06-16 Superleague Round 3

Qualifying
After the first round of qualifying Gavin Maciver was quickest, closely followed by Andrew Slingsby who was less than half a second adrift, Matt Popejoy was in third place just one lap down.
In round 2 Andrew managed an extra lap and moved ahead of Gavin with David Simpson moving up into third spot ahead of Matt.
Round 3 saw Gavin gain pole position for the final, Andrew consolidate second position and Darren Ford move up to third place with Matt fourth.
In the mardave class after round 2 Jordan Galbraith was the fastest, Joshua Galbraith second and some fine driving from Wes Wray moved him into third place with Paul Galbraith fourth.
In the final qualifying round Jordan increased his lead, Paul Galbraith moved into second position and Joshua Galbraith third – a trio of Galbraith’s at the top of the qualifying table!

Finals
Jordan took the lead from pole position on the grid with his dad Paul close behind, the positions were reversed on lap 11 when Paul went into the lead and despite severe pressure for Jordan he managed to hold on for a win, Jordan taking second place and Mike Simpson third. This makes it two weeks in a row that Paul has won the final, Jordan was in fighting mood afterwards and heard to say “another lap and I would have had him” – lets see what happens next week.

The GT12 B final saw an easy win for fast improving Daniel Lacey, there was a good race for second place between Mike Simpson and David Snowden with David eventually finishing five seconds ahead of Mike. it was good to see Alister Hart racing again and take a fine fourth place.

The GT12 A final was a fast, close race between Gavin Maciver, Andrew Slingsby and Darren Ford, David Simpson was in the mix for a time but a loose connection on his transponder meant he only recorded three laps.
Gavin was in the lead from start to finish but Andrew was never more than a couple of seconds behind to finish in second place. Darren Ford had a tremendous race, setting the fastest lap and finishing third just less than a second behind Andrew, Matt Popejoy took fourth place.

Half way through the superleague now with just rounds in August, October and December remaining, the best five scores from a possible six to count for each driver.
